On Thursday May 4, Juniors Max Pekich and Isaiah Trumbull won the Boys Tennis Doubles City Championship. That win comes towards the end of a hugely successful season for the Boys Tennis team. On April 26, they won the Team City Championship against Carrick, and on May 1, Junior Aavin Mangalmurti won the City Singles Championship. That means the team has swept every city tennis tournament this season.
However this comes as no surprise. The Boys Tennis team and its players frequently place first at city tournaments. Over the last 3 years, an Obama player has won the Singles City Championship, and in 2021, the team similarly swept every city tournament.
“Coming into this season, I wasn’t sure if we would make it that far,” said Junior First-year Player Max Pekich. “But I’m really happy with our success and can’t wait to keep on playing.”
The season isn’t over yet. The team will travel to Erie to play another district-winning team on May 12.
